Fueled by a dedication to community building through music, Serbian-American violinist Ela Kodžas enjoys a dynamic and transcontinental career as a soloist and collaborator. Features include performances with Theotokos, Nuova Pratica, Publick Musick, Clarion Music Society, American Bach Soloists, Smithsonian Haydn Academy, and at the Midtown Concerts at the Gotham Early Music Scene. As a founding member of period ensemble, Quartet Novalis, she has performed at the Boston Early Music Festival Fringe Series and the Baroque and Classical Academy at the Carmel Bach Festival. A native of Rochester, NY, Ela holds degrees from the Eastman School of Music, UCLA and the Juilliard School. Her mentors include Renée Jolles, Movses Pogossian, Elizabeth Blumenstock and Cynthia Roberts. She continues her studies at the Royal Academy of Music in London under the tutelage of Rachel Podger this coming fall. In her free time, she can be found avidly dog watching or searching for hidden treasures at flea markets.
